The Apprenti apprenticeship program is changing how companies fill the talent gap

Apprenti is a non-profit organization that delivers registered apprenticeship programs to bridge the tech talent and diversity gaps. They create pathways to access tech talent and help organizations address digital skills shortages.  Apprenti was awarded the Department of Commerce Good Jobs Challenge (GJC) grant to develop and deploy diverse talent through the pathway of registered apprenticeship. We have successfully partnered with Apprenti and witnessed the true impact of the apprenticeship program. MAX was the first all-Apprenti IT Career Bootcamp to run in Ohio.

Depending on the pathway of interest, the student can expect to earn the industry certifications required for entry-level to junior positions. For instance, multiple CompTIA certifications are included in our Cyber Security bootcamp. While our coding graduates must complete their Scrum.org certification to achieve their graduate status.

What training is covered by the Good Jobs Challenge?2023-11-20T23:58:20-05:00

The Good Jobs Challenge is a significant government funding partner, and the Good Jobs Challenge program continues to propel the Apprenti program forward. All MAX Technical training career bootcamp programs are approved for the Apprenti model of apprenticeship training. Depending on the employer and apprenticeship career path of choice, MAX can either place the student into an upcoming bootcamp or work with the Employer and Apprenti to develop a custom training path.

Are employers required to hire apprentices after their apprenticeship?2023-11-21T00:04:57-05:00

Employment at the conclusion of apprenticeship is “at will,” so employers are not required to hire their apprentice/s post-apprenticeship. However, more than 8 out of 10 apprentices receive full-time offers at the completion of their program. Employers find their investment in job-specific apprentice training consistently pays off.

The answer is simple. The United States does not produce enough tech talent to fill growing needs each year. As such, employers require a secondary system in which they can produce and attain talent. We see a future where organizations will have two talent development pipelines: the university system and registered apprenticeship. The intent of the U.S. in the elevation of registered apprenticeship programs is to help organizations become more confident posting jobs with the requirement of either a college degree or completion of an apprenticeship. Europe and Asia have adopted apprenticeships in nearly every industry and continue to reap the benefits. In the U.S., Apprenti is part of a national apprenticeship ecosystem that is supported by the federal government.
