Funding for Training FAQ

Sometimes, but it depends on the program and your situation. Some funding sources cover the full cost of training, others cover a portion, and some work best when combined with another source. Part of what your advisor does is figure out which combination gets you the most coverage.

It varies by program. Some funding is for individuals starting a new career or building skills; some is for veterans; and some is designed specifically for employers investing in their current team. Chances are at least one option fits your situation, and we’ll help you find it.

Not necessarily. Many people combine more than one funding source to cover most or all of the cost. Whether you’ll have any out-of-pocket cost depends on which programs you qualify for and how much of your training they cover.

Not neccesarily. While some programs are geared toward unemployed or underemployed individuals, others are built for people who are already working, including employer-funded options for upskilling your current team.

A few of our programs, such as Ohio TechCred and the MAX Education Savings Accounts, are specifically designed for employers who want to train their existing workforce, including options that reimburse training costs or offer savings on larger training investments. Your advisor can walk you through which ones fit your team’s size and goals.

In many cases, yes. Stacking funding sources is one of the best ways to reduce your total cost, and part of our job is figuring out which combinations you qualify for.

It depends on the program, but our funding options generally cover individual courses, multi-week programs, and certification pathways across our technology training catalog. We’ll help match eligible courses to the funding you qualify for.

Timelines vary by program, since some involve a straightforward application and others go through a workforce board or require additional documentation. Your advisor will walk you through what to expect for the specific program you’re pursuing.
