JOB TITLE:  Senior Bootcamp Instructor

REPORTS TO:  President
EMPLOYMENT TYPE:  Full-time

GENERAL FUNCTION: 
Focused on engaging, successful student learning experiences in a classroom environment by using building blocks of instruction to establish foundational knowledge within population of beginner programmers.  Ability to effectively deliver information with passion that is contagious for every learner. A learner themself with vested interest in the academic/career progress of each student.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Function as Project Manager and Guide throughout the entire bootcamp.

Build relationships with the students, with successful outcome of student capstone completion and demo day graduation.  

Senior Bootcamp Instructor will lead three, 13-week MAXimum bootcamps annually and will teach as a Subject Matter Expert in the area(s) / technologies of expertise using MAX curriculum and capstone for all or part of the curriculum.  Includes opportunities to additionally teach in part-time bootcamp if desired.

  • Establish / communicate clear objectives for all lessons, topics, and projects to students
  • Instruct students in groups (of no more than 18), using various teaching methods, such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations
  • Plan and facilitate classroom to achieve a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and lab time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate within identified schedule time constraints
  • Observe and evaluate students’ learning to determine individual progress and make timely, actionable suggestions for improvement
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional tools to meet students’ varying needs, learning style, abilities, and interests in an in-person and/or virtual environment
  • Recognize, prepare, and implement individualized remedial supports / tutoring for students who would benefit from extra help; tutor students individually to overcome learning barriers when observed / identified with focused concentration on technical proficiency and graduation requirements
  • Assign and grade class work and homework, including each student’s capstone project
  • Promote further education with students by encouraging student learning exploration; hone student’s independent skill to persevere / coach through with challenging tasks
  • Complete regular bootcamp progress summary for each student as required; update key staff with progress with identified areas of concerns / remedial strategies regarding student success
  • Strategically use computers, audio-visual aids, video platform and materials for classroom instruction
  • Adopt and follow curriculum / attendance / program guidelines or requirements of Ohio Proprietary Board of Schools
  • Collaborate with MAX instructors and staff in the development / delivery of instructional programs
  • Coordinate and execute demo day details in conjunction with students and Career Manager
  • Attend staff meetings; participate in student recruitment open houses as scheduled
  • Possess ability to develop / select new course content when needed and manage existing content
  • Learn and quickly master new content quickly in a constantly changing industry
  • When requested, candidate must be willing to travel for onsite classroom training delivery
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Technical Skills

  • Strong, demonstrated Full Stack programming skills
  • Able to readily absorb technical documentation with complete comprehension with ability to immediately apply that knowledge
  • Proficient with MS operating systems
  • Completion of Train the Trainer
  • Previous experience with technical training and technical content development

  • Ability to manage time / tasks independently
  • Strong sense of emotional intelligence as collaborative team contributor
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Full-time role is estimated to be 180 (+/-) instruction days annually.
  • Salary will be commensurate with experience.
