Happy 20th Anniversary, MAX Technical Training!

Founded by Denise Bartick in her basement in 1998, MAX Technical Training is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year, and can state confidently that it is today considered a staple of Greater Cincinnati’s technology ecosystem. When asked to look back on her early years as MAX’s founder, Denise is humbled to realize that MAX no longer just provides Microsoft  technical training.

“We’re using technology to transform lives,” Denise says. “When we first started, we were just training people in IT departments how to keep email and servers going. That led to training people how to develop software, then project management and business analysis, which evolved into more process-oriented training. And now, we also train people how to communicate and work in teams”

Today, MAX Technical Training is a certified WBENC (Woman Business Enterprise National Council) company and a certified SBE (Small Business Enterprise). The company has been awarded the Inc. 5000 three times, was awarded the Cincinnati Business Courier’s Fast 55 Award in 2012, and has been a Microsoft Gold Learning Solutions Partner since 1998. As MAX Technical Training celebrates 20 years, we look back on the history of the company and the future of IT training.

Beyond Standard Training

The IT community was a very different place 20 years ago. Most IT teams were tasked with keeping the lights on – things like managing their organizations’ internal systems and responding to the basic needs of the business. In those days, MAX Technical Training was one of 12 primarily Microsoft-certified centers, delivering off-the-shelf, Microsoft Official Training. However, Denise saw an opportunity to do more. By leveraging a relational business approach with its clients, MAX Technical Training became a trusted partner that was able to provide valuable skills beyond IT training.

Responding to the IT Community

As business technology has evolved with the increasing demands of a global, digital economy, the range of technology education has grown. Today, IT is a strategic part of a growing enterprise, and Denise evolved her company to meet these changing needs. Beginning with just 30 classes, MAX Technical Training now has more than 500 courses in technologies from Agile to .NET to Cyber Security. MAX also boasts private and customized training for corporate clients, delivered in the company’s 10,000 square-foot state-of-the-art education center, through MAX’s remote technology or at customer sites worldwide.

MAX sources the best Instructors and curriculum available to meet the shifting needs of an enterprise, and has built creative solutions to embrace e-learning by vetting products for its clients and building solutions around those products to save time and money.

Because technology has become integral to all parts of a business, MAX added full stack software developer bootcamps to help build the technical workforce. These developer bootcamps are attended by corporate employees seeking training, as well as by those who are changing careers. MAX Technical Training is VA-approved, and can accept GI Bill funding for its bootcamps, offering the Veteran community much-needed access to careers in software development.

With more than 37,000 people trained to date, MAX Technical Training has a strong history of working within the IT community to develop strategic offerings that help businesses make the most of their technology solutions. Ultimately, it’s about helping organizations increase productivity through their employees and empowering people to master technology and processes. With a robust training schedule, MAX Technical Training is educating the next generation of programmers, business analysts, data analysts and cyber security experts.

20 Years of Service

If you ask Denise who MAX Technical Training is, she’ll tell you MAX is a team dedicated to helping people learn, while supporting the region’s IT community. Going beyond basic transactional relationships, the company works diligently to make a meaningful impact within the lives and businesses of those it trains.

“To me, the important thing to know is that MAX Technical Training has been through many changes,” Denise says. “But regardless of those changes, we’ve remained dedicated to our IT audience and mission. We’ll continue to change to stay current with the market. It is the fortitude, strength and loyalty of our clients and employees that have been, and will continue to be, the keys to our survival and success. I’m grateful for every single employee and client we’ve had over the years; they all were a part of who we are today.”
